Description
Speech is a MSHSL activity that is comprised of competitive public speaking. There are thirteen categories in speech that range from dramatic interpretation, duo interpretation, poetry interpretation, original oratory, discussion, to storytelling and extemporaneous reading. The speech season starts at the end of December and goes until March or April (April is when the State competition is). We compete on Saturdays (February through March) and have team practice on Mondays after school and category specific practices on other designated days of the week. Speech is an activity that is open to freshman through seniors and is a great activity if you like to perform, to write, to research and debate, or if you simply want to get better at speaking in front of people.
